The Royal Scotsman has 16 twin and 4 single State Cabins, all with lower beds, dressing table, full-length wardrobe, hairdryer, individually-controlled heating, cooling ceiling fans, opening windows and cabin service call button. Each cabin has its own private bathroom with shower, wash-basin, toilet, constant hot water, high quality toiletries and fresh, fluffy white towels daily. All of The Royal Scotsman tours include State Cabin accommodations, all meals daily, including wine, all alcoholic and other beverages, sightseeing excursions, entertainment and taxes.

Day 1 Edinburgh – Keith
The Royal Scotsman departs Edinburgh Waverley Station at 14:25, and travels north across the Firth of Forth, over the magnificent Forth Railway Bridge, one of the greatest achievements of the Victorian Age. We enjoy afternoon tea, while travelling through the Kingdom of Fife, across the Tay Bridge, then up the east coast, to Keith. Here we disembark for a traditional Scottish ceilidh at Strathisla Distillery, the Home and Heart of Chivas Regal. We rejoin the train for an informal dinner and overnight stabling.

Day 2 Keith – Plockton – Kyle of Lochalsh
We disembark for a visit to another prestigious distillery, and return to the train, heading west to Inverness, while enjoying lunch. We travel towards Kyle of Lochalsh , on undoubtedly the most scenic route in Britain, and arrive in Plockton, a beautiful Highland village, bathed by the waters of the Gulf Stream. Time to explore the village, or to enjoy a woodland walk. We return to the train in Kyle of Lochalsh for overnight stabling. This evening a formal dinner, followed by entertainment in the Observation Car.

Day 3 Kyle of Lochalsh – Carrbridge – Boat of Garten
After breakfast we retrace part of yesterday's route traveling east towards Inverness. We continue south to Carrbridge, disembarking for our private visit to Ballindalloch , one of Scotland's most romantic castles, set in the magnificent surroundings of the Spey valley & ancestral home of the Macpherson-Grant family since 1546. We rejoin the Royal Scotsman for overnight stabling on the  private Strathspey Railway. A formal dinner is served, and afterwards, we meet a true Highlander who brings stories of Scottish heroes to life.

Day 4 Boat of Garten - Aviemore - Perth
We disembark at Boat of Garten for some outdoor activities - a round of golf, walks or fishing. We rejoin the train in Aviemore and enjoy lunch while continuing south to Dunkeld, where we disembark to visit magnificent Glamis Castle, childhood home of the late H.M. Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. We rejoin the train in Perth for overnight stabling. This evening, we enjoy an informal dinner .

Day 5 Perth - Edinburgh
Breakfast is served as we leave Perth and wend our way over the Forth Railway Bridge to Edinburgh arriving at 09:27 where our tour ends.

Day 1 Edinburgh – Spean Bridge
We depart Edinburgh at 14:20, heading west towards the majestic West Highland Line. Afternoon tea is served while we travel along Gare Loch & enjoy our first view of Loch Lomond. After a hard climb up Glen Falloch with its many waterfalls, we continue north, savoring spectacular views of Rannoch Moor, arriving in Spean Bridge where we stable overnight. After a formal dinner , we enjoy the stories of Scottish heroes, told by a true Highlander.

Day 2 Spean Bridge – Mallaig – Taynuilt
We continue our journey west, through Rannoch Moor, glimpsing majestic Ben Nevis, and then travel over the Glenfinnan Viaduct, passing stunning scenery, to Mallaig, to savor the spectacular views of the Isle of Skye . There is time to enjoy a walk along the gleaming white Morar Sands, before boarding the train. Lunch is served as we enjoy the spectacular route to Bridge of Orchy, where we disembark for a scenic cruise on beautiful Loch Awe. We return to the train in Taynuilt for overnight stabling. Tonight an informal dinner, followed by entertainment in the Observation Car.

Day 3 Taynuilt – Isle of Bute – Wemyss Bay
We head south to Wemyss Bay, for the ferry over to the scenic Isle of Bute for touring. Following our afternoon tea, we visit Mount Stuart, Britain’s most spectacular Victorian Gothic house. We have time to explore the house and grounds before returning to the mainland, to rejoin the train for overnight stabling. This evening a formal dinner .

Day 4 Wemyss Bay – Edinburgh
An early breakfast is served while we wend our way back to Edinburgh, arriving at 09:42 , when our tour ends.

Day 1 Edinburgh – Newtonmore - Boat of Garten
We depart Edinburgh at 13:38, and head north passing  Perth, Dunkeld, and Blair Atholl, glimpsing impressive Blair Castle. We reach Newtonmore and disembark to visit the town and its fascinating Highland Folk Museum, where 400 years of Highland life comes alive. We return to the train at Boat of Garten on the private Strathspey Railway for overnight stabling. After our formal dinner , we are regaled by stories of Scottish heroes as told to us by a true Highlander.

Day 2 Boat of Garten – Aviemore - Inverness - Dundee
We travel by coach to Rothiemurchus, a superb Highland estate, where we enjoy clay pigeon shooting or a Highland Safari to learn about the local flora & fauna from the Estate’s Park Ranger. We rejoin the train, and lunch is served while we travel to Keith , passing historic Culloden , site of the last battle on British soil in 1746. We disembark at Keith for an exclusive visit to Strathisla Distillery. We return to the train and enjoy an informal dinner en route to Perth for overnight stabling.

Day 3 Perth - Edinburgh
Breakfast is served as we continue our journey across the Firth of Forth, via the Forth Railway Bridge. We arrive in Edinburgh Waverley Station at 09:27 where our tour ends.

Day 1 Edinburgh - Dundee - Stirling
The Royal Scotsman departs Edinburgh at 14:00. We cross the Firth of Forth by the Forth Railway Bridge, heading to Dundee, while afternoon tea is served. We disembark for a visit of magnificent Glamis Castle, childhood home of the late H.M. Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. The Castle has been lived in since 1372. We rejoin the train and travel along the splendid coast of the Kingdom of Fife, towards Perth , for overnight stabling. We enjoy a formal dinner, followed by entertainment in the Observation Car.

Day 2 Stirling – Edinburgh
An early breakfast is served, while we travel back to Edinburgh with arrival at around 09:45 when our tour ends.

After traveling along the east coast to Keith, we head to the picturesque west coast village of Plockton, and we enjoy many highlights along the way, including a private ceilidh at Strathisla Distillery, a visit at another prestigious distillery, and a personal invitation to visit Ballindalloch, a magnificent Highland home with superb gardens. Relax and experience the magnificent West Highland scenery, and a special view of Mount Stuart , one of Britain’s finest Victorian Gothic houses. And between these two tours, a few hours of of free time in Edinburgh for some walks or lunch at a local restaurant.

Tour Conditions

Your Tour Includes: State Cabin with twin or single accommodations & private en suite shower and toilet facilities; all meals daily, including wine and all alcoholic beverages; sightseeing excursions, entertainment, all applicable taxes. Your tour does not include crew gratuities or travel insurance, which is highly recommended at the time of deposit .

Tour Payment. A deposit of 25% of the tour price is required at time of booking, and the remainder is due 8 weeks prior to the departure date. If reservations are made within 8 weeks of departure, the entire cost of the tour must be paid at the time of confirmation.

Tour Cancellation & Changes:
When cancellation is received
120 days or more before departure, 5% of tour price
119-56 days before departure, 25% of the tour price (deposit)
55-21 days before departure, 50% of the tour price
20 days or less before departure, 100% of the tour price
One free booking (change) is allowed in the period 120 days or more, after which the fees for cancellation are as outlined above.

In the unlikely event that it is necessary for The Great Scottish & Western Railway Corporation Ltd. (GS&WR) to cancel at tour or to make a major change to a confirmed tour (and a major change is a change of the departure date, or a change to departure time of more than 12 hours), GS&WR will tell guests as soon as is practicably possible prior to departure. Guests will then have the choice of accepting the major change with such alternative arrangements for the tour and appropriate compensation (up to 10% of the tour price) as GS&WR shall offer, or choosing an alternative departure date for the tour, or withdrawing from the contract and accepting a full refund of all monies paid. Other than major changes listed above, GS&WR reserves the right to make changes in routings, visits and tour timings at any time, and although guests will, if possible, be advised of any such changes before departure, GS&WR is not obligated to advise guests or pay them compensation. GS&WR will cancel a tour more than 60 days prior to departure if the minimum number of 20 bookings required for a tour has not been met. Guests will then have the choice of accepting an alternative departure date for the tour, or withdrawing from the contract and accepting a full refund of all monies paid. If guests’ arrangements for onward travel after the end of the tour are disrupted due to a delay of more than one hour in the scheduled finish time of the tour, GS&WR will use all reasonable endeavors to facilitate guests’ onward arrangements. There will be no refunds for days missed on any tour. Payment of the tour price constitutes acceptance of the Booking Conditions enumerated above, as well as in pre-departure passenger documentation and Reservation Confirmation Form.
