Day 1 Friday – London-Bury St. Edmonds
Our English Cameos® tour leaves London and we travel into Suffolk to Melford
Hall, a splendid 16th century Tudor mansion with fine collections. On
to Kentwell Hall for a stroll through its gardens before reaching Bury
St. Edmonds for three nights at The Angel

Day 2 Saturday - Lavenham, Saffron Walden & Beyond
A day to explore picturesque byways: Lavenham, with some of the finest
16th century buildings; Saffron Walden in its beautiful setting, Bury St.
Edmonds, with its many historical buildings & to visit Ickworth
House
’s wonderful art collection and gardens. (B, L)
Day 3 Sunday - Norwich, The Burnhams, Felbrigg Hall
Into Norfolk to Norwich, with narrow winding streets, many
medieval churches and its beautiful Norman Cathedral, whose spire soars
315 feet high. We explore The Burnhams, picturesque villages, and visit
the birthplace of Lord Nelson at Burnham Thorpe. We continue to Felbrigg
Hall
, an outstanding Georgian house with lovely gardens. (B, L)
Day 4 Monday - Wisbech, Castle Rising, Peterborough, Oundle
We wend our way to Wisbech, with its canals and houses that remind us of
Holland & continue to Castle Rising with its massive Norman Keep,
before driving across The Fens to Peterborough with its superb Cathedral.
Time to explore charming Oundle, before reaching Stamford for two
nights at The George

Day 5 – Tuesday – Stamford, Burghley House, Belvoir Castle
We enjoy some time in Stamford, a National Landmark city, and visit the
largest, grandest Elizabethan house of all, Burghley House, with 18
treasure-filled rooms and a medieval kitchen with over 260 copper utensils. We
drive through the Leicestershire countryside, to tour Belvoir Castle,
seat of the Dukes of Rutland since Henry VIII’s time, with paintings by Gainsborough,
Reynolds and the famous portrait of Henry VIII by Holbein

Day 6 Wednesday – Stamford to Chatsworth & Baslow
Some scenic routes to Chatsworth, superb Stately Home, set within a
100-acre garden by Capability Brown, the renowned landscape artist. We
enjoy an unhurried visit of its rich interiors with art including works by
Rembrandt, Van Dyck and Reynolds. We reach Baslow for three nights at
the Cavendish Hotel

Day 7 Thursday– Hardwick Hall & Haddon Hall & Wilmslow
Our first stop is 16th century Hardwick Hall to visit its Great Chamber
and rare, extensive collections of tapestries. We continue on to Haddon Hall,
Derbyshire seat of the Dukes of Rutland
, with priceless paintings, tapestries, and terraced gardens, filled with roses
and old fashioned flowers. (B, D)
Day 8 Friday Peak District National Park & Wilmslow
We enjoy a scenic drive through the Peak District National Park to Wilmslow
to visit Tatton Park, an 18th century Georgian mansion with vast grounds
that include a Japanese garden and deer park. We return to Baslow
for our Farewell Dinner

Day 9 Saturday – To London
An early start back to London where our English Cameos® Charm & Splendor
ends around noon.
